A sustainable card for your wallet

PLA is a bioplastic obtained from maize, a renewable material. Maize is also used to produce ethanol and livestock fodder, and thus has no negative impact on human food sources.

Your card is sustainable if the logo below appears on the reverse. The leaf symbolizes the organic materials used to make the card. The Optimus Foundation Eco Credit Card does not in fact have this symbol but has been produced from PLA since September 2020.

For sustainability reasons, we will use up our existing stockpile of cards first. It is not possible to exchange your card early. You will receive your sustainable card after our stocks have been used up. Depending on the card type, this may take up to two years. Platinum credit cards are excluded from this change.

Unfortunately, the thin protective layer on the card, as well as the chip, antenna and magnetic stripe, are not made from sustainable PLA and thus are not biodegradable.
