Overview

UBS Asset Management celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Reserve Management Seminar (RMS).

Date: Sunday, 23 June - Friday, 28 June 2024

Location: UBS Conference Center Wolfsberg, Wolfsbergstrasse 15, 8272 Ermatingen, Switzerland

Celebrating the 30th edition of our annual event for reserve managers and sovereign institutions is a milestone for UBS. Over the last three decades, UBS has partnered with reserve managers and sovereign wealth funds from all around the world to discuss the global economic and financial environment as well as the latest trends in sovereign wealth management. The UBS RMS Survey, published each year alongside the event, has established itself as one of the most authoritative depictions of official reserve management activities available.

At the 30th RMS, we will not only discuss the current challenges and opportunities faced by sovereign institutions but also the secular trends shaping the global economy: de-globalization, geopolitical fragmentation, digitization and sustainability. 2024 is an important year on the political front, with an unprecedented number of countries voting for the renewal of their parliaments or presidencies; this year could be a turning point for many of these secular trends.

2024 also marks the 80th anniversary of the Bretton Wood Conference that laid down the foundations of today’s global financial system. This system is being challenged by the changed structure of the global economy, the rise of new superpowers and technological developments such as central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and artificial intelligence (AI). At the conference, we will discuss the evolution of the global financial architecture in the light of these changes and whether we can already see the signs of a “new” Bretton Wood system emerging.

These and many other questions will be addressed by our distinguished list of internal and external speakers. Among them, Axel A. Weber, former Chairman of the UBS Board of Directors, and Jacob Frenkel, ex-Governor of the Bank of Israel, will discuss recent monetary developments with other central bankers; Professor Barry Eichengreen, University of Berkeley, will talk about the fate of global currencies; Professor Partha Dasgupta, University of Cambridge, will address how the private sector can be involved to deal with the challenges of our time; Paul Donovan, Global Chief Economist at UBS and Manoj Pradhan, Talking Heads Macroeconomics, will provide their latest insights on inflation; Tao Wang, UBS China Chief Economist will present her recently published best seller Making Sense of China’s Economy. Massimiliano Castelli, Head of Strategy for Sovereign Institutions at UBS AM, will discuss the most recent trends in reserve management including the results of the UBS RMS Survey.

We look forward to celebrating this major milestone with you!
