Bank entry for high school graduates (BEM)

Start your career right out of high school as a BEM trainee.

Your development

When your development is the heart of the program, everything is about growth. Become part of our core business while you explore different specialist areas in our 18-month training program offered across Switzerland. Whether you start in March or September, you’ll rotate through three different assignments, gain a generalist experience in banking and focus on advisory functions. When all is said and done, you’ll have your industry certificate issued by the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA).

    Grow your skills

Theory helps us refine our big picture. You’ll learn in two different places: UBS-specific training at the UBS Training Center, and banking-specific training at the external CYP competence center (alongside trainees from different banks).

    What we look for

We look for independent people who love to learn and connect with others – whether working in a team or speaking with clients.

Most importantly, you’ll need to have successfully completed one of the following:

    • Baccalaureate degree (preferably in the field of economics)
    • Specialized baccalaureate degree
    • Commercial or business secondary school in the 3+1 model with the aim of obtaining a vocational baccalaureate

    Get connected

    Events and taster days

Connect with us directly at one of our in-person or virtual events. In some regions, you can even join a taster day to see what it’s like to do an apprenticeship at UBS.

    How to apply

To get started, apply online with the following documents:

    • Resume (CV)
    • Cover letter
    • Copies of the last two years' school reports (canton of Bern: learning reports of the last two years)
    • For application/platform developer: Multicheck ICT
    • If available: employment references, learning reports, diplomas, typing certificate, etc.

Everyone is welcome at UBS. And we’re committed to disability inclusion and making sure our application process is accessible for everyone. If you need reasonable accommodation/adjustments throughout our recruitment process, you can always contact us.

We check your documents for completeness and whether you’ve met our minimum requirements. We're looking for people with a high willingness to learn, a positive attitude and an interest in the financial industry.

If we think you’re a good fit, we'll invite you for a personal interview.

How do you prepare for the interview? Start by researching the program, and UBS in general. Be sure to take notes and write down any questions you have. We’re more than happy to answer them.

Think about what you want to share about yourself and what kinds of questions we might ask. Why UBS, what are your strengths, what do you want to work on, etc. Even how others might describe you. No need to overthink it. As long as you’re prepared, we should have a great conversation.

    Some tips from us

Greeting your interview partner by name and making eye contact is a great way to make a good first impression. Keep in mind that there are no right or wrong answers. Just be yourself. And don’t forget to ask questions. It lets us know that you’re curious and interested.

If you've persuaded us, we're happy to welcome you to UBS!
