Journey with UBS
Journey with UBS
I have been with UBS for the last four and a half years as a subject matter expert (SME) and trainer. I was part of the team that helped move and setup the Technology Service Desk (TSD) from Manila to India.
As an SME, I advised leaders on various processes like proactive accesses requirements and issue solutioning procedures with various advanced trainings. I also trained technical engineers and analysts on the various processes to prepare them for production. The role had a wide scope and everyday was challenging but fulfilling.
During the pandemic, I worked on one of the most meaningful projects (alongside my main role) - our remote onboarding process that enabled UBS to onboard thousands of employees fully remote.
Your background
Your background
I have close to 20 years years of work experience of which a decade’s worth is in coding. In fact, I have even published a book on C++. I started with technical build up projects and slowly made my way into technical and functional training, development, and management solutions.
To switch or not switch
To switch or not switch
I wasn’t actively looking to move out of my role but had a feeling that I wanted to try something new. Something that would challenge me and pull me out of my comfort zone. While browsing through our internal job postings portal, I came across the opening in our talent team and decided to test waters. The transition was difficult given that I was moving away from something I knew like the back of my hand. But I trusted my instinct and knew that this was a golden opportunity to have an impact beyond regional boundaries.
The move has been a little emotional for me since TSD has been my baby since its inception. But when it’s right, you just know it.
Being a talent specialist
Being a talent specialist
UBS has initiatives all around the world and I am looking forward to taking up the role of facilitator for some programs and be the program manager for some others. Fostering a culture of learning in India is a key focus area on my list and I’m excited to drive that.
I will be driving one of our flagship learning program - LEAP and also be part of the team that delivers our well recognized career comeback program. The UBS Experience Day program for new joiners will also be part of my new role. We’re getting ready to roll out a new learning experience platform and that’s a unique opportunity for me to contribute towards.
