How you can get involved in philanthropy – tips on choosing a project, setting up a foundation and ending your commitment.
Would you like to get involved in charitable work or maybe you’re already active in philanthropy? Philanthropy embraces a wide spectrum of activity, from active charity to general volunteer work, donations or supporting social projects through financial or other means.
Your opportunities to become philanthropically active are as broad as the term itself. There is no one right way to get involved efficiently with maximum impact. The journey is as individual and unique as you are; however, most philanthropists are guided by the same questions.
We address these questions and answers in the video series “UBS Philanthropy and Women’s Wealth – doing good better.”
Find the right project for your donation
In the video “What project should I donate to?” we look at questions such as “Do I want to act alone or work with others?” and “Do I want the impact of my donation to be clearly visible?” and introduce two platforms that help with project selection.
Set up your own foundation or join an umbrella foundation?
The video “Should I set up my own foundation?” explores whether you need your own foundation to give your commitment more structure or whether you should join an umbrella foundation.
Find someone to take over your philanthropic commitment
In the video “How do I end an existing commitment?” we illustrate how, in addition to planning your wealth, you should also plan your social commitment throughout the phases of your life and what to consider when deciding who takes over from you in future.
