Talk with Louise, a service and delivery analyst in Singapore
Louise gives us a peek into her world.
I started off as a Microsoft Office trainer for corporate clients. This role cemented my passion in knowledge sharing and helping others to embrace technologies.
After leaving the trainer role behind, I moved on to support and service-oriented technology roles with a handful of international banks. Within these firms, I took on a variety of responsibilities such as desktop support analyst, access control administrator, business continuity management planner, change coordinator, and others.
I’m currently working as an onboarding specialist in our Technology Operations Center, supporting the wealth management business.
A service and delivery analyst plays a critical role in the business. On a typical day, we perform things like; connectivity checks and reviews of the telemetry data to detect abnormalities, and we investigate any abnormality that has been detected during our review.
When we encounter an incident (such as slow performance or a degradation in services) we work to recover the services as quickly as possible, limiting business impact. Another activity that is performed during our day is onboarding solutions to the production environment. This process is particularly controlled and structured in order to mitigate any disruption to the end users.
As a service and delivery analyst, you’re in regular communication with partners in the different business and technology teams. It’s crucial to understand their requirements and address their concerns to improve the services they use on a daily basis.
Our core goal is maintaining the availability and stability of our technology platforms.
Enabling the business. We help our technology partners innovate and implement new technologies to empower the entire business.
We’re motivated about what we do and we complement each other’s strengths and weakness. Like a family, we debate, discuss and challenge each other, but in a totally positive way.
Most of the time we're very focused and are working hard, but we also take casual get together breaks over coffee or lunch, discussing ideas and sharing experiences.
Yes! Some of my closest friends are colleagues.
Of course, we have a strong people culture here at UBS, so I feel there are no barriers between us.
The things I’m most looking forward to are the Internet of Things (IoT) coupled with data science. So, leveraging technology to connect people, places, cultures and environments.
Those who work in the same field do. However if they’re not, it can take some effort to explain!
A common joke among us technologists is that family members always look to us to repair anything to do with electronics.
I was a part-time librarian at a children’s library and the resident show-and-tell master during storytelling time.
Being in multiple places at the same time, but I’d settle for Hermione’s time-tuner charm (from Harry Potter). Now, back to reality, I would love to be able to read and write in multiple languages, with ease.
