Hong Kong/Shanghai, 6 January 2022 – The 22nd edition of UBS’s flagship Greater China Conference (GCC) will take place over the week of 10 January 2022 with the theme A New Horizon: People, Planet, Prosperity. To cater to the new normal, the conference will be a ‘virtual’ event, featuring five days of keynote speeches and panel discussions, plus investor meetings in the following week.
GCC continues to enjoy tremendous interest, with over 4,500 having registered to attend, including 3,500 institutional investors and in excess of 280 Chinese listed and private companies.
“The popularity of this year’s conference underscores the ongoing appetite for insight into the world’s second-largest economy and the growth potential it enjoys across a host of sectors,” said Axel A. WEBER, Chairman of the UBS Board of Directors, who will deliver the opening address at the conference. “Over the past three decades we have built local entities with a wide variety of licenses to support the outward-bound desires of leading Chinese companies and help international investors play a larger role in the country’s rapidly evolving capital markets."
This year’s conference will include a series of panel discussions and presentations that focus on the drivers of growth of China’s economy, including consumption trends, new energy, and digital transformation. It will also explore what common prosperity means for the market and the next frontiers of sustainable finance. Other key areas of focus include the country’s recent structural and regulatory reforms, asset management, healthcare, agriculture, the rise of artificial intelligence, the fintech landscape, and electric vehicles.
"The diverse array of experts from business, finance, politics and academia participating in this year’s conference will share their views about China’s recent economic progress and the numerous opportunities that are emerging as a result of its innovation and push for social and environmental sustainability," noted Edmund KOH, President of Asia Pacific at UBS and a Member of the Group Executive Board.
