Washington/Singapore, 13 September – The Bretton Woods Committee (BWC) and UBS are jointly organizing the third Future of Finance Forum 2024, held at UBS Singapore on 13 September.

The annual Future of Finance Forum brings together policymakers, regulators, industry experts, and practitioners to discuss emerging topics, trends, and technologies in financial services. This year’s conference will address risks and opportunities to global financial stability, including an uncertain global economic outlook, developments in the global regulatory framework, and the role of innovation in the financial sector and its effect on growth and stability.

Colm Kelleher, Chairman UBS Group AG said: “UBS is proud to host the world’s leading policy makers and corporate leaders to discuss the latest trends in finance and build a resilient financial system together. As Bretton Woods celebrates its 80th anniversary this year, we aim to foster stronger cooperation between financial institutions and authorities to promote financial stability and economic growth.”

William C. Dudley, Chair of BWC said: “Today’s forum will address some of the key trends in the financial industry, where we explore how the power of artificial intelligence, tokenization, and digital assets might be effectively harnessed, while, at the same time, minimizing potential risks to privacy, security, and financial stability. This is in line with the recent UBS Asset Management Reserve Manager survey of 40 leading central banks (who manage about half of the global FX reserves), where 8 out of 10 respondents view developments in disruptive technologies as likely to have a significant benefits, with opportunities outweighing potential challenges as long as there are appropriate regulation and guardrails.”

Emily Slater, BWC Executive Director said: “We are pleased to be back in Singapore, a city at the forefront of global finance, for the third edition of our flagship Future of Finance Forum. Our partnership with UBS, a global financial institution, further highlights our commitment to public-private dialogue with leading industry players.”

This year’s Future of Finance forum takes place against the backdrop of a global financial landscape that is settling into a higher-for-longer interest rate environment and is finding its footing in a world of slower growth and significant geopolitical tension. Combined with rapidly evolving technological innovation, this has sparked a renewed debate on how to refine the regulatory framework.

As an influential event in the Asian financial calendar, the Forum rotates among key financial centers in the region. After its successful debut in Singapore in 2022 and its subsequent edition in Hong Kong in 2023, the Forum will return to Singapore for its third edition in 2024.
