Hong Kong/Shanghai, 8th January 2025 – UBS’s 25th UBS Greater China Conference (GCC) will take place on 13th and 14th January 2025 in Shanghai. Under the theme "25 Years of Partnership: Crafting the Future," this year's conference will welcome more than 3000 participants, including over 2000 institutional, sovereign, family office and private investors, and executives from 290 Chinese listed and private companies.

Sergio P. Ermotti, Group CEO of UBS, said, “China is a key market for UBS. Over the past 25 years, China’s capital markets have seen remarkable growth, now ranking as the world's second-largest equity market. Despite some near-term headwinds, the China market has demonstrated resilience and offers evolving opportunities for global investors. Celebrating a quarter-century of collaboration and innovation along China’s growth, the GCC is a unique platform that connects global and Chinese investors, corporates and experts for insightful discussions of the emerging trends and opportunities in China.”

In the last 25 years, the China A-share market capitalization surged from RMB 4.82 trillion at the end of 2000 to RMB 85.96 trillion by December 20241 . Concurrently, reforms aimed at improving shareholder returns have led to a significant increase in dividend payouts, which soared from RMB 18.3 billion to RMB 1.94 trillion during the same period1. Various market-opening initiatives have also driven the share of foreign investment in the total free float market capitalization to double from 4% to 8% in the past decade2 .

Iqbal Khan, President Asia Pacific and Co-head of Global Wealth Management of UBS, said, “China has demonstrated its determination to transition toward high-quality growth. January could be an optimal time to discuss the state of the transition and how the new measures will affect the investment landscape into 2025.
