Competition Rules

The competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students in the US.

Participants can enter the competition as a team comprising no more than 2-5 people per team. Individual participants can't be part of more than 1 team.

Only one proposal per team is allowed.

To enter, each team member needs to register their interest here and proposals must be submitted to sh-ubs-pitch-2021@ubs.com.

To withdraw from the competition, participants must send an email to sh-ubs-pitch-2021@ubs.com with the subject line: "Withdraw from UBS Pitch competition"

Proposals will be judged for their understanding of the problem through the articulation of the scope of the challenge and the approach to the solution, i.e. the framework for the model, underlying key drivers and assumptions and the data sources used.

No. All costs and expenses incurred by participants from participating in the competition (e.g. preparing their presentations, participating in the final Pitch) are the sole responsibility of the participants.

The winning team names will be announced at the end of the final Pitch presentation session. 

All participants retain ownership and all intellectual property rights to their ideas and submissions.

Participants must make sure that all entries and submissions must not infringe any third-party rights, i.e. no stealing or copying of someone else's idea, no plagiarism, no passing off of someone else's project as your own.

UBS may wish to continue working with certain participants to develop their ideas further after the competition. Ideas that may potentially be pursued and/or how the relationship will develop or continue, will depend on a case-by-case basis and solely at UBS's discretion. Winning or being a finalist does not guarantee that UBS will want to develop the idea or continue the relationship beyond the competition.

Any participant that UBS believes does not, or is unable to, comply with and meet these Competition Rules, has violated these Competition Rules, is not eligible to participate, who has provided false information, acted in a harassing or unsportsmanlike manner with respect to UBS or any other participant, or tampered with the operation of the Competition will be disqualified.

UBS's decision is final.
