• The tech sector is one of the world’s fastest-growing industries. But there’s a big gap between tech companies’ need for talent and the skills available in Latin America and the Caribbean. The issue means the regions are missing out on huge opportunities to grow and secure high-quality employment for their populations.
  • For example, according to a 2022 study on emerging technologies in Latin America, 73% of executives said that accessing talent was their biggest barrier to going digital.
  • PROtalento is an education technology company putting LAC back on the tech map – providing online education and guidance that empowers people to secure careers in high-demand industries.
  • The company’s programs provide people with the skills they need to meet the demands of today’s industries. Participants can access the programs through scholarships, income-based agreements, forgivable loans (loans that can be cleared or deferred when the borrower meets certain conditions) and other incentives.
  • Since 2020, more than 4,000 people have participated in PROtalento courses, bootcamps and mentoring – boosting their career opportunities and incomes.
  • Juan David Aristizabal, CEO and Co-Founder of PROtalento, was the first Latin American to participate as co-chair of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in 2019. A few years earlier, he was recognized in Forbes' “30 under 30” list and received an MTV Millennial Award. In 2021, Juan received the “International Princess of Girona Award” for supporting young people in Latin America.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Anibal worked as an advisor to the Colombian Government in regulation and development of financial markets, and as an associate at the law firm Brigard Urrutia in the areas of banking, financial services, capital markets and securities regulation.
