Why women need to invest differently

Women tend to retire earlier and live longer

61% of women retire earlier than planned compared to 50% of men.1


In addition, women on average live longer than men; around five years globally.2

This means their wealth plans need to support them for a longer lifespan.

Gender gaps persist in earnings and pensions

A notable discrepancy in pay between men and women appears around and after childbearing years.


At retirement, women aged 65+ on average receive 26% less income than men from the pension system in OECD countries.3

Women can partially offset these gaps with a sound investment approach.

Gender differences in investing confidence and performance

Only 9% of women believe they can outperform the investments of their male counterparts.4


Yet when women do invest, they tend to perform better than men.

DePoly is a chemical recycling company that converts plastics and textiles back into their raw components, an innovative approach to dealing with the huge problem of plastic waste.

"My vision is to eliminate unnecessary plastic incineration and production from oil – lowering greenhouse gas emissions while cleaning up our environment."

An organic and material chemist, DePoly's co-founder, Samantha Anderson, received her PhD from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in October 2019.

Re-orienting Africa’s healthcare systems

Financing Alliance for Health is an African-led partnership and technical advisory fund that works with partners to strengthen, scale and sustain community health systems, an often overlooked sector for funders.

"We're working towards a world where funders will prioritize community health. This will be key to achieving universal health coverage."

Having served as a frontline clinician and health administrator, CEO Dr. Angela Gichaga is a public and social sector expert, executive coach, and human capital and leadership development advisor.

Empowering rural women

Frontier Markets is a social enterprise that empowers rural women with technology to provide products and services like clean-energy, agricultural tools and home appliances in remote Indian villages.

“We believe in helping rural customers, women, and suppliers connect on an even playing field through economic opportunities.”

Thanks to an innovative revenue-sharing business model, Frontier Markets is able to support women into the workforce while connecting millions of rural households to useful products and services that are often unavailable in rural locations.
