Good luck at the World Championships!
WorldSkills – the World Championships for young professionals – starts in Abu Dhabi on 15 October. The SwissSkills team will be competing for medals.
In all, 38 young professionals from Switzerland will represent Switzerland in 36 different professions at the 44th WorldSkills in Abu Dhabi.
After the pre-camp, our Swiss national team, the SwissSkills team, is now ready for the trials from 15 to 18 October. Over the course of four days, our team will compete with around 1,300 professionals from 58 nations for fame, honor and medals.
Ready to give their all
The start of WorldSkills marks the end of an intensive period of preparation for the SwissSkills Team. It began with the first team weekend in February earlier this year. Since then, the 11 women and 27 men – all under the age of 23 and with completed apprenticeships – have been individually honing their professional skills, with their experts and with support from UBS. Furthermore, the 38 individual players have formed a close-knit team working toward a common goal.
Delegation head Christine Davatz appears confident: "The SwissSkills team has worked hard for nine months and prepared itself well. I believe this team is ready to turn in an impressive performance in Abu Dhabi. And with that necessary dose of luck, the young professionals will again make it into the top three in the world."
UBS as presenting partner
Lukas Gähwiler, Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBS Switzerland AG, is likewise convinced of the Swiss delegation's chances: "These young professionals have already shown top performances for the nomination. The strong delegation contributes to further promoting the reputation of the dual Swiss vocational education system at home and abroad. As a presenting partner, we are proud to be allowed to support this team at the competitions in Abu Dhabi."
