UBS presents, “After The Island,” a four-part video series exploring how legendary New York Islanders are succeeding in business, entrepreneurship and more following their careers on the ice. Watch the series below.

John Tonelli

On the road to four straight Stanley Cups, New York Islanders legend John Tonelli was focused on planning his next career move. Hear John talk about studying for his Series 7 on the team bus with UBS Long Island Market Director Amanda Librizzi and watch the full conversation below.

Arron Asham

Former New York Islanders forward Arron Asham spent 15 seasons in the NHL with 6 different teams, but he never forgot where he came from. In this episode of our “After the Island” video series, Arron talks with UBS Market Director, Weisner Perez, about what it meant to him to represent the Indigenous community as a player, improving diversity in the sport of hockey, and the legacy he wants to leave with his own charitable foundation.

Denis Potvin

NHL Hall of Famer Denis Potvin forged a lasting legacy with the New York Islanders, and he’s been adding to it ever since he hung up his skates. In this episode, Denis sits down with James Jack, Head of UBS’s Business Owners and Multigenerational Client Segments, to talk about chasing new goals as an entrepreneur.

Bob Nystrom

Four-time Stanley Cup Champion, Bob Nystrom, is remembered as one of the hardest working players to ever put on the New York Islanders uniform—a reputation he earned both on and off the ice. In our new “After the Island” video series, Bob talks with UBS Athletes & Entertainers Business Strategist, Pjay Togunde, about working jobs in the off-season during his playing days, and how the experience helped him transition to a successful career in the business world. Watch the full conversation here.

NBA legend, Shaquille O'Neal, has brought his restaurant Big Chicken to UBS Arena! As an entrepreneur and retired professional athlete, we wanted to hear what's the best financial advice Shaq's ever received. Watch the video below to hear his answers.

We should be able to come together—to laugh, cheer, sing and dance together—and enjoy it all the more because we’re looking out for people and for the planet. To do this, the world needs to reinvent the venues that host our biggest and best events. We decided to be one of the first.

UBS Arena is located at the historic Belmont Park in Elmont, Long Island.

It’s home to the NHL’s New York Islanders and host to more than 150 music and entertainment events each year. It’ll aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2024 and bring huge economic boosts to the surrounding area.

We wanted to be involved in building one of the world’s best entertainment venues for fans and performers. But more than that: we wanted to help show that an arena can contribute to a better planet and the local community for decades to come. A brighter, fairer, more sustainable future isn’t at odds with having fun.

As a legacy, we hope other event venues look at UBS Arena and become greener with envy.

A new arena for a new era: Listen to Anneliese Mesilati, Head of Brand Activation, Sponsorships and Events, UBS Americas and Dan Griffis, President of Global Partnerships at Oak View Group give a behind-the-scenes tour of the construction of UBS Arena and explain how the arena will be a live entertainment venue like no other.
