This information is published by UBS Switzerland AG and/or its subsidiaries and/or affiliates (“UBS”, “we”). In the following, you will find the privacy statement for marketing activities by UBS Switzerland AG in Switzerland.

As part of our marketing activities, we collect and process information about individuals and legal entities, including information about potential, current and former clients (“you”).

What kinds of personal data do we collect?

For marketing activities in Switzerland, we may collect and process (to the extent permitted by law) the following personal information (“personal data”):

  • personal information such as name, identification number, date of birth, telephone number, address and place of residence, electronic address and family data such as the names of your spouse, partner or children;
  • where relevant, professional information about you such as job title and professional experience;
  • where relevant, information about your education, such as whether you are studying or have studied at a university;
  • where relevant, personal interests, such as sustainability issues, that you would like to be informed about;
  • your knowledge of and experience with investment topics;
  • details of our interactions with you and the products and services you use, including electronic interactions via various communication channels such as e-mail and mobile applications;
  • records of telephone calls between you and UBS, in particular data from telephone logs, such as your telephone number, numbers of calling or called parties, call forwarding numbers, time and date of calls and messages, duration of telephone calls, routing information and types of calls;
  • identifiers that we have assigned to you, for example, your client, relationship, partner or account number, KeyClub membership number (our client loyalty program), including identifiers for accounting purposes;
  • when you access UBS websites or some of our applications, your activities within our products and services as well as data transmitted by your browser or device are automatically recorded by our server, including the date and time of access, the name of the file accessed, the amount of data transmitted and your access behavior, your device, your web browser, browser language setting, requesting domain and IP address (further data is only recorded via our website if it is disclosed voluntarily, for example as part of a registration or request);
  • where relevant and permitted by law, special categories of personal data such as your biometric data, political opinions or affiliations, health data, data concerning racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs and, to the extent permitted by law, information relating to criminal convictions or offenses.

We may collect details of your interactions with e-mails we send you for client relationship management and/or business development purposes (for example, whether you open e-mails and what content you are interested in) in order to assess whether and how we offer products, services and events that may be of interest to you.

We may use cookies, tracking technologies and other means (such as web beacons, pixels, GIFs, tags and unique identifiers) to collect and process the above information from the various channels and devices you use. This includes, but is not limited to, devices you use in your interaction with us to access UBS websites, UBS platforms, products, services and mobile applications (apps). If you share personal data pertaining to persons other than yourself, please ensure that these persons – if necessary – agree to you sharing their data with UBS and that they are informed about the purposes for which we use their data.

For what purposes do we use your data?

We collect and process your personal data for the purpose of client acquisition and business development and/or to protect and strengthen the UBS brand (the “Purpose”). This includes:

  • client acquisition activities, such as generating leads for our business;
  • providing relevant and personalized information about services and products, for example in the form of a newsletter that you can subscribe to, on websites that you visit and/or in the context of responding to inquiries that you send to us;
  • tailoring products and services to your needs, for example by collecting feedback on specific product features;
  • organizing events (face-to-face or virtual) which you can register for and participate in;
  • organizing prize draws and competitions which you can participate in;
  • operating KeyClub, our client loyalty program in Switzerland;
  • measuring your satisfaction with UBS products and services, for example through client surveys;
  • maintaining and developing our brand.

Possible exchange of your data with third parties

Your personal data may be passed on to companies of the UBS Group, external service providers of UBS and other third parties in Switzerland and processed by them in order to fulfill the Purpose.

If an event takes place abroad, UBS may transfer personal data that is necessary for the organization of the event to legal entities of the UBS Group, external service providers of UBS and other third parties abroad that are involved in organizing the event. Even in this case, personal data will only be transferred to countries that offer an adequate level of data protection or – in the absence of legislation ensuring adequate protection – on the basis of appropriate safeguards (e.g. standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission and recognized by the competent data protection authority) or other legal exceptions provided for by local law.

If data is transferred abroad, it may no longer be protected by the laws of your country (for example, laws relating to bank client confidentiality and data protection do not necessarily provide an equivalent or comparable level of protection compared to the laws that apply to your relationship with UBS) and may be subject to foreign regulations that permit the transfer of the data to competent local authorities or other third parties.

How long do we store your personal data?

Depending on the intended use, we store your personal data for different periods of time:

  • In the case of subscription services, such as a newsletter, we store your personal data for the relevant service until you cancel the subscription.
  • In the case of prize draws and competitions, we store your personal data for a period of twelve months if you participate. If you win a prize in this context, your personal data will be stored for a period of ten years in accordance with Swiss tax law.
  • In connection with the organization, implementation and follow-up of events, we store your personal data for a period of twelve months.
  • For all other activities, your personal data will only be stored for as long as is necessary to fulfill the respective Purpose.
