IT-way-up

Start your career in the world of IT. Our 2-year program helps you switch gears and get into application development.

Your development

This program’s reputation precedes it. And that’s because we don’t waste any time in making you an IT expert. Over the 2-year duration, you’ll learn how to program applications, seek and solve the root of problems and have a suite of developer tools at your command. As you learn and gain skills, you'll get the chance to take on more responsibility.

At the end, get your career started with your "Computer Science Specialist" federal certificate of competence.

Gain new skills

You’ll jump right in. Our 8-month basic training starts with internal specialist courses and external training modules. All based on the modular system of ICT Vocational Education and Training Switzerland. We believe additional opportunities to grow should be open to everyone. Which can mean job shadowing, picking out carefully designed curricula for your specialty or deeper learning with UBS University.

What we look for

We look for independent young people who are eager to learn and excel in logical and analytical thinking.

Besides that, you should:

  • Have completed a federally recognized baccalaureate
  • Or have completed a commercial secondary school
  • Or have completed a banking apprenticeship (from a vocational baccalaureate type business)
  • Be 18-25 years old
  • Be motivated and have a positive attitude
  • Have an interest in business contexts
  • Have good grades in mathematics, German and English

How to apply

To get started, apply online with the following documents:

  • Resume (CV)
  • Cover letter
  • Copies of the last two years' school reports (canton of Bern: learning reports of the last two years)
  • For application/platform developer: Multicheck ICT
  • If available: employment references, learning reports, diplomas, typing certificate, etc.

Everyone is welcome at UBS. And we’re committed to disability inclusion and making sure our application process is accessible for everyone. If you need reasonable accommodation/adjustments throughout our recruitment process, you can always contact us.

We check your documents for completeness and whether you’ve met our minimum requirements. We're looking for people with a high willingness to learn, a positive attitude and an interest in the financial industry.

If we think you’re a good fit, we'll invite you for a personal interview.

How do you prepare for the interview? Start by researching the program, and UBS in general. Be sure to take notes and write down any questions you have. We’re more than happy to answer them.

Think about what you want to share about yourself and what kinds of questions we might ask. Why UBS, what are your strengths, what do you want to work on, etc. Even how others might describe you. No need to overthink it. As long as you’re prepared, we should have a great conversation.

Some tips from us

Greeting your interview partner by name and making eye contact is a great way to make a good first impression. Keep in mind that there are no right or wrong answers. Just be yourself. And don’t forget to ask questions. It lets us know that you’re curious and interested.

If you've persuaded us, we're happy to welcome you to UBS!
